Price Study of Commonly Grown Vegetables in Central Texas

Welcome to the information page for our (groundbreaking) local food price study! This study began on 8/23/2017. 

NOTE: Farmer interview deadline is September 15, 2017 and Buyer interview deadline is October 16, 2017.

This study is open to all farmers anywhere in central Texas and to institutional buyers in the 5-county area (Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, Williamson).

Beautiful local veggies red potatoes and eggplantThis study is being conducted with Texas State University and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in partnership with the Texas Center for Local Food. We are grateful to St. David's Foundation for funding this important research.

This study includes only these vegetables: summer squash (zucchini, yellow straight and crookneck, etc.), okra, cucumbers, carrots, bell peppers (green), tomatoes, eggplant, lettuce (mixed greens WASHED) 1 lb bag, cabbage, broccoli (whole crowns), potatoes (red), sweet potatoes.  

We hope you will participate!  If you are interested in participating, here are the steps to follow.  

1 - Read the information letter.

2 - Read the Informed Consent form and be sure you understand protection of your privacy.

3 - Take a little time (15-30min) to review the sample surveys:

In the future, we plan to study other vegetables, beef, poultry, dairy, grains, and lots more.  Do let us know if you're interested in those surveys and we'll contact you know when we start those surveys.
