Bethany directs a national program dedicated to reducing the burden of infectious disease among farmworker communities, as well as several regionally focused programs aimed at improving the occupational health of Indigenous farmworkers.  

She holds a BS in Community Health, an MPH in Epidemiology, and a PhD in Occupational Epidemiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center. 

Her expertise focuses on community-driven and participatory research, strategies for reaching immigrant outdoor workers for public health programming and research, and occupational health and safety issues for workers employed in agriculture and construction. 

Before joining NCFH, Bethany worked in local WIC clinics, small farming operations, and labor organizing, focusing on participatory research with immigrant outdoor workers.

Bethany serves as an advisory board member for the High Plains Intermountain Center for Agricultural Health at Colorado State University and the Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Texas. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Center for Local Food.
