José studied Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin and has a background in manufacturing operations. 

In 2020, he partnered with friends to run a mushroom farm, sparking a passion for mushroom cultivation.

Today, he works at the Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Advancement at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he collaborates with local farmers and community leaders to explore ways to improve the health of our people, our food systems, and our planet.
