Sue Beckwith has initiated and led numerous groundbreaking service projects throughout her 40+ year career. 

These include the “women in non-traditional jobs” program at the City of Austin, the creation of the first City of Austin website, and the founding of Austin Free-Net to ensure internet access for all. 

She also worked alongside lower-income students in St. Louis to design a literacy program using technology.

In 2006, Sue transitioned to farming and helped establish Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill, Texas’ first commercial organic feed mill, as well as Jeremiah Cunningham’s World’s Best Eggs. 

She later formed the Texas Center for Local Food with farmers to increase the sales of healthy, Texas-grown foods to Texans, aiming to improve public health, preserve farmland, mitigate climate change, and support resilient communities.
