A report of the Local Meats Working Group Presented by Erin Flynn, Green Gate Farms and Sue Beckwith, City of Elgin to the Austin Sustainable Food Policy Board. The presentation provides an overview of the state of pastured poultry production in Central Texas, including challenges faced, opportunities for collaboration, and steps for action.
Sue Beckwith (she/her) is the Executive Director of the Texas Center for Local Food (TCLF). TCLF collaborates with organizations across Texas and the U.S. to develop local food enterprises that support Texas sustainable agriculture and job creation. Sue is a former farmer, past president of Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association and was the start up project manager for Jeremiah Cunningham's World’s Best Eggs, sold throughout Texas and for Coyote Creek Organic Feed Mill, the first commercial certified organic feed mill in Texas.
