TCLF Celebrates Juneteenth with “A Fresh Look at Your Farmers Market” Partners

Juneteenth Celebration at Galveston's Own Farmers Market June 22, 2025 from 9am to 12pm

As proud partners of Opal’s Farm and Galveston’s Own Farmers Market on our “A Fresh Look at Your Farmers Market,” project, we celebrate freedom, food, and farmers this Juneteenth!

Juneteenth is a Federal Holiday in the United States celebrating when news of Black freedom from slavery came to Texas. The U.S. Army arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to broadcast the news on June 19th.

Galveston’s Own Farmers Market will host their Juneteenth Celebration event on June 22, 2025 from 9am to 12pm at 3304 Market Street. Come create, learn, and celebrate Juneteenth at their craft station, where kids can make handprints, add their own doodles, and explore inspiring facts about its history and significance.

Opal’s Farm in Fort Worth, Texas, home of “Grandmother of Juneteenth” Opal Lee, celebrates with Opal’s Walk for Freedom on June 19, 2025 at 9:00am at Farrington Field, 1501 University Dr, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Register for Opal’s Walk for Freedom here. Follow on IG @therealopallee
